Q How does BooksfreeSwap work?
A BooksfreeSwap is a community of book lovers who trade books they own for books they want to read. After joining and activating your account you can list books and audiobooks you own and want to swap in your Items list and create a Wish List of books and audiobooks you would like to read. If a match is found between your lists and another members, you will be notified both by email and on the site. If you both approve the swap, the recipient will pay for the shipping and handling and the sender will print a convenient Postage Paid mailing label from the site to send the book.
Q Does it cost anything to join?
A BooksfreeSwap is free to join, post books, and ship books. You only pay a small shipping and handling fee for books you want. You can list your books on your Items page and send them to other members free (recipient pays the shipping and handling), but you must add funds (minimum $10) to your account before you can receive a book from another member.
Q How do I join?
A Submit your email address and the password you want to use and we will send you a confirmation email to activate your account. When you follow the link in the email you will be asked to enter your name, address, and set up your account preferences.
Q What are My Items?
A My Items are the books and audiobooks you own and want to swap with others. You can add items by entering the 10 or 13 digit ISBN usually found on the inside front cover or back cover of the book. You can also specify the book's condition on the My Items page. If you have one or several items to add, you can use the Add ISBN: box or click on the Bulk Upload link if you have many titles.
Q What is the Wish List?
A The Wish List is the list of items you want to read. You can add items to your Wish List by browsing the categories of the site or entering a title, author, or ISBN you're looking for in the search bar at the top of the site. When you find the item you're looking for, click on the Add button to add it to your Wish List.
Q What are the Item Conditions?
A There are four conditions for items listed on the site, Like New, Very Good, Good, and Acceptable. You can set your condition preferences in your account. You will also see the listed condition of the book or audiobook before you confirm the swap. You will find a Condition Definitions link in the Help section.
Q How many Items must I list before I can swap?
A In order to help support the community atmosphere at BooksfreeSwap, you must list 5 Items before you can swap. This one time minimum helps members find matches for the titles on their Wish List.
Q How do I receive a title on my Wish List?
A When a match is found between a title on your Wish List and another member's Items, you will be notified by email and on the site. You will have 2 days to confirm the swap. If you confirm the swap, the funds to pay for shipping will be taken from your account when the sender prints the shipping label. You will receive a tracking number for the package.
Q How do I send a title in My Items?
A When a match is found between a title from your Items and another member's Wish List, you will be notified by email and on the site. You will have 2 days to accept the swap. After you accept the swap, you will have two days to print the shipping label from our site and ship the book. The funds to pay for shipping will come from the recipient's account. You must use your own packaging material and the shipping label from the site to mail the item.
Q How long will it take to receive my book or audiobook?
A All Items are sent by media mail which typically takes 3-10 business days. For residents in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands please allow an additional 2-5 business days. You will receive a tracking number for the package.
